Many of my paintings are named after lines in poems, in this case one by Brooke McNamara. What you may not know, is I am frustrated by ‘just painting pretty flowers,” at least that’s the story in my head. Somewhere in my mind, over the last months, paintings of flowers and landscape became equated with feminine silence, its why I made myself paint this one... to explore what was that all about, hence the choice of poem, the title of the piece. This painting could just as easily be titled, “Facing My Fears,” ‘Examining My Worth,” or “Simply Reflecting You.” In the end, I realized, things only have the meaning we assign them, so I chose to send you beauty and love, comfort and joy. Flowers are just flowers, beautiful!
